the Waird
Beautiful picnic spot Situated along the Queens road this beautiful wee loch is a magnet for feeding ducks and wildfowl . There is a well laid out area on the slope overlooking it which is very popular meeting place for friends out for a walk . There are quite a few benches available . The Loch itself was used as a Curling Loch when the weather was so cold that there was 4 inches of ice  which is enough to support curling teams safely .It is recorded that 1774 was the start of the curling in this area
